Games for Windows website relaunched

Some of the prices on there are beyond even Steam levels of insanity.

£39.99 for 007 Bloodstone, £34.99 for Dirt 2. Is GFW destined to always be the brand with no common sense?

EDIT

The answer to that is of course yes - Batman AA £34.99, Batman AA GOTY £29.99.

Football Manager 2010 £29.99, this is too easy :p.

Nobody seems to have actually sat down and considered why Steam is just so popular. I can't understand it myself, are shops and other online sites really so ignorant that they genuinely believe it's piracy?

I guess that's a whole other discussion though.

I have to admit, i'm not a fan of GFWL. I get it forced on me by DoW2 but at the end of the day, i'd rather they just patched it out. It doesn't really add anything to my playing experience.

Prices are a complete joke

Singularity £39.99  I mean this game failed to sell on all formats so surely put it down to £19.99 or even £9.99 & it will sell but £39.99 is never going to sell is it.

Competition is always good though as they have a daily deal section as well as the weekly now. Today its GTA4 £11.99 (I know Steam sold it for £5 last xmas).

What did it look like before :p

Boris Johnsons bum.

Looks better, still won't use it, I'll stick with steam.

Dito.

EXACTLY.

They all just moan about how dominant Steam is, YET this is one occasion where those dominating the market are actually the better product in many peoples eyes.

It looks good. There are some good deals on there so it's exactly like Steam in the respect that the prices are very high except for the deals they do.

Borderlands - £7.50
Osmos - £1.25

It's not brilliant but heading in the right direction.

Yeah but steam will have it's amazing Christmas offers coming out in a few weeks, last time I bought like 6 games for £30? Including mass effect 1 & 2. GFWL can't beat steam deals.

I'll use it if it contains games that are cheaper, like i used Xfire to buy STO because Steam was more expensive, looks good though.

Of course they could and they did with their sales recently. Its the sheer volume of items that steam discounts that makes it so atteactive.

But lets not think that steam is the Martin Lewis of computer game retailers. They fleece you on every new game and take a long time to drop their prices.

They need to sort out their conversion rates too - Bloodstone is $49.99, £39.99 and €49,99 depending on country.
(50 USD should be 32 GBP or 37 EUR)
