I've bought quite afew games in the past from the well known auction site but recently I picked up 2 games together, which were advertised as 'new', but the discs are covered in scratches and its blatantly obvious they are not new.

Normally I only buy games which are sealed or advertised as new and I've never had a problem, this guy had 100% feedback so I assumed they would be new as he described but the amount I paid for them, I only did so thinking they were brand new.

The amount is not even that much but to be honest I'd rather not even use these, I don't want it to mess up the laser on the PS3, one disc in particular is heavily scratched.

I've messaged the guy anyway and I'll see what he says. If he isn't interested will ebay do something? He hasn't exactly conned me but just advertised something as brand new which clearly isn't.

Never had any problem buying or selling when it comes to games, its just luck of the draw you get a seller that wants to say mint condition just go get more bids,

If I buy off the bay then I always ask for their gamertag. If they wont give it I wont buy it if it's advertised as new or played once not my thing etc.

That was I can see if this opened and never played new game is really new or not ;)

As a rule I buy from the members market and re-sell on the bay.

What if they don't have a gamertag, as they've not played it online?

Then I dont buy it, loads of people try to sell a new game and they have spent a week or so playing it. I have had scratched discs before so I dont trust them.

EVERY game I've ever bought of the MM has been immaculate. I remember buying Tomb RL off da_mic and he had even put sellotape on the disc to stop it moving in transit. I think people on here treat their stuff and care about their stuff more than ebay scum ;)

I agree - bought quite a few things on MM now and each one has been in fantastic condition. It's been much safer than the bay for me.

That's a good point, you don't see many people on here with negative feedback.

Its not just the feedback, people on here seem quite anal about 1 pixel or 2 FPS. Exact positioning of a subwoofer in a room or whether it's you're or your.

These retentives are the people you should buy games from, they remove the disc from the case at arms length and place the disc in the drive using a compressed air cushion.

;)

OCUK members market is definately a buyers market :)

People really will go to all lengths to make you think you're buying a brand new item. I recently bought San Andreas for the XBox from a competitor (through their 3rd-party seller scheme) which was advertised as brand new and sealed. It arrived in a cellophane wrapper so I was initially happy but then I noticed that there was a yellow price sticker under the cellophane, so removed the wrapper and opened then box. The disc had both fingerprints and some small scratches on it!

Luckily it works ok and I picked it up for a good price otherwise it would have gone back for a refund.

Yeah where I work if I wanted I can get it properly resealed and sell as new. My discs are faultless, but I prefer to be honest and sell as used.

Yeah Nokkon I agree, you get a good price on MM for buying but I prefer to sell on the bay. An auction to finish on a sunday night at about 7 never fails me :)
