Games in windows not full screen?

Hi my 5 year old as been showing some intrest in playing games on my pc so i download some old games that he can play. he like playing dirt3 most but for some reson the game will not run full screen it in a window instead.
any ideas how i sort this out?

Go into the video settings of the game and make sure it's set to run full screen?

Not sure why but I often find myself needing Alt + Enter for Codemasters games.

Also some games take size of desk icons rather then the screen resolution which is stupid

the game was fine then i used alt+tab to exit and that when the fun started.

I've found one or two games that, if you tab out of them, initially refuse to go back to full screen.
ALT+Enter is indeed your friend.
