Hi all

Writing on behalf of my brother who is experiencing constant jerkiness in all his games, but specifically World at War in recent times. This has been the case for as long as I can remember since picking up a pre built system through OCUK (absolutely no dig intended). He plays on a 20 inch monitor capable of 1680 x 1080 but is trying to run COD at 1280 x 1024. Whens testing with fraps, frame rates are well above 25.

His spec is reasonably decent and scores 5.6 on the Vista performance thingy. Hardware includes:

C2D stock at 2.4
4 gig of ram pc6400 (accepted only 3 gig recognised due to OS)
8800 GTS (the later version of the 2)

I've tried fiddling with the paging file - not that I really know what I'm doing! As I've heard this can make a difference and indeed, has made a difference for another mate who had simialr issues on a much higher spec build with 64 bit OS.

Any ideas on how this could be remedied?

Cheers in advance ;)

Thanks for the input thus far guys. To address amnesia's comments, the game play is juddery - no freezing or pauses, just not smooth. It's almost like playing with fps running below 25 but he is comfortably above that.

This does relate to online gaming so maybe connectivity is an issue but the machine also had the same characteristics when he lived at a different address. Wouldn't rule this out though.

Will look at installing new GFX and sound drivers and also shutting down any unwanted background stuff. Re-install is not an option for him as he doesn't want to lose his World at War ranking :D

Anybody had any joy with adjusting the page file parameters?

Cheers guys
