The kids have been playing this tower defence/deck building game, Like a King. You level up cards and get new units as you complete the campaign, and then manage your deck for actual tower defence game - where you have to beat the opponent. I've also been getting in to it! The annoying part is that it's just a browser game and so your progress is only saved in that one browser. So for multiple people to play on one computer we all need different browsers, and if the local storage gets wiped you have to start again. Plus you have to watch videos (although they're just of other games on the website) to speed up opening the new cards.
I've been trying to find real games, like on Steam etc., that is the same concept, but there are so many either tower defence, or deck building games (plus sometimes roguelike aspects) that it's hard to know what's what. Also several seem to have deck building but only in that one game and there's no overall progression. Hopefully that makes sense, and I welcome everyone's recommendations!
