Games like NWN2 except they're actually good.

As title, I like the class complexity but the actual game is horrid I feel now.

I wanted to make a bard/assassin but couldn't handle the game long enough to get there. :p

So games like it? Or even more complex.

NWN1 is better than NWN2 but NWN2 isn't that bad. They are both primarily multiplayer games though, sp campaigns are really bad.

If you want a similar game using D&D rules, It has to be Baldurs Gate or maybe Icewind Dale.

It isn't entirely all that bad just played dragon age and felt quite refined in comparison. :p Spoiled, can I make a bard/assassin/rogue type guy on nwn1? :)

Though beware that the rules are different, NWN1 was based on the D&D 3rd edition rules, while NWN2 was based on D&D3.5e

IIRC, Bards were pretty dire in 3e, I've not played NWN1 though, so can't comment on how well they play in the game.

Definitely NWN1 + expansions. Extremely diverse selection of characters, some great stories and great gameplay. If you didnt like nwn2, nwn1 may just sell it for you :D

The vanilla NWN1 campaign was dire though. Jump straight into Hordes of the Underdark, much more fun.

Heretic! Vanilla NWN was excellent! Undrentide and Underdark were excellent expansions and some of the community made mods (Eye of the Beholder for example) are brilliant.

It was rubbish :p

Hunting down magical creatures to make a potion (did I just grind that poor dryad up in the end?) and that painfully obvious traitor guy (not really a spoiler, he's got 'I'm a traitor' stamped across his forehead.

Underdark was much more fun, proper dungeon crawl with actual companions.

The scope for NVN1 was incredible (the toolset and DMs kit) but the game was nowhere near BG2 in terms of quality.

Might have to get a copy of Underdark and see if it's better. Wish it was 2nd edition rules though!

Hordes of the Underdark is probably one of my fave games of all times. Re played it several times. I did like the original campaign too but I doubt I'd want to play through it again :)

still have original and undertide on disc, but where could I get underdark?

Though I barely ever touched undertide, I did enjoy playing through the main vanilla campaign (was my first ever rpg), and might give this a go again at some point.

Well upon NWN I can say it's vastly superior in controls, UI and user experience. Graphics aren't even that bad and inventory screen is better.

Is there any more suggestions? Was drakensang any good?

The Witcher should get a mention here, although im aware it isnt a party based game.

It does however transform the Aurora engine into something actually worth looking at. Ive never seen it utilised better than what CD project did with it.
