games locking whenever i start playing

i have a pentium dual core 2.66ghz cpu, a hd4850 and an msi mobo, but i only have 1gig of RAM.

is the one gig of RAM the reason for my system to freeze when playing games. like the sims 3 freezes as i am going into a house ect. becuase the 4850 should run it well

Are you experiencing any other issues with your system - non game related?

What are your temps like, idle and under load, on the cpu and gpu? (use prime95 and Furmark to test the load temps)

i sometimes get a blue screen with a message saying windows is shutting down to protect itself, then dumping physical memory. and the error is something along the lines of _LESS_OR_EQUAL

Run memtest via a boot disk - link - and see what results it gives out. It may be that you have a corrupt stick/slot (or other).

I would still advise you to do the temp analysis - but i would run the above test first.

1 gig of ram is not ideal but it should not lock your comp up, if thats what you mean and not stuttering.
