Both are a bit of a bargain at moment....

Want advice on whether to buy or not....

THe 4400+ has 1mb L1 and L2

The 4600+ has 512l L1 and L2

Both are £156 inc VAt.

I'll be overclocking a bit and building a games machine.

Am i right in thinking the L1 and L2 cache is more important that the speed bit?

Is there a better chip out there i should consider ?

From my understanding the reason they are both the same price is that the 4600+ clocks better, the larger cache seems to be a limiter

Yeah but the extra cache is worth a good 200Mhz.

Its worth bearing in mind that the 4600 has a higher multi thereby allowing you to clock further without relaxing the memory. As with most AMD chips though stepping is all important. I've seen 4800's that wont go past 2.5 and 3800's that exceed 3gig.

If both are 'unknown' steppings and you have reasonable memory then I would go for the 4400 too.
