Games minimising once every 20mins or so..

Hi all,

Ever since I got my WF3X 7950 something strange has been happening where by any (seemingly) game I play will minimise to the desktop something in the order of once every 20mins.

99% of the time alt+tabbing back into the game works fine but it can be VERY irritating in the middle of a gripping scene. It seems to do it if I've got it set to fullscreen or windowed full screen.

Again, this happens with all games, Steam, Origin, DRM free. I can't point to anything where it isn't happening.

Any help or diagnostic support would be greatly appreciated.

My mate had an issue like this, we had to re-install his PC and never figured out what it was that was causing it, suspecting just a piece of software.
 
There will be a background process running that is doing this.

It will be a painful process to find which but you need to either taskmanager and terminate all background processes until you find the one or use msconfig and remove all non essential services/startup etc.

I think a known culprit is Apple's bonjour service so try that first

Same problem with my friend's PC, the tp-link software that came with the wireless adapter kept minimizing any fullscreen application. He uninstalled the software and it solved the problem.

Did you install any software from the disk that came with the GPU by any chance OP?

Try above first, but if it doesn't work a reinstall should.
 
I had this where it would just exit full screen and go windowed. I went through all my processes that I didn't need and one of those was the culprit. Not had an issue since (touch wood)

Yeah, same software. Was driving me insane but managed to narrow it down to a few programs which i installed just before it started happening. Try a system restore to before it started happening?
 
never had this issue

somethings updating probably in the bachground and notifying you ? idk its something like that tho
 
Windows restart after update request thing will do it, and websites can do it. There were a few sites, usually those with loads of working flash crap constantly going, that kept using cpu load even when not visible and would systematically drop you out of a game every 20 mins.

Its not a fault, just something taking prescendent that shouldn't be, bad coding, software, specific websites. As others, it can be a pain finding out precisely what it is.
