Almost fully completed plants vs zombies which has been great fun.

I had dungeon keeper 2 installed but when you patch it to the latest version, all sorts of crashes occur on windows 7.

So looking for either older games that will work on windows 7 or newer games that are able to be run on a standard HP laptop.

The X-com (UFO if you had an original UK copy) games are always great. The steam copies run great on windows without any need for fiddling and are just a few pounds right now.

the battle for wesnoth; free and very playable!

There is always the civ series and with an emulator you can pick up countless golden oldies

Hmm...

Age of Empires, 1 and 2 maybe.
Battlefield 1942 should be pretty low down the requirement list...

All I can think of right now.

planet scape torment has just been re-released and will run great on a laptop.

It is available from a very popular online retailer of such items and can be had for just over a tenner.

I have ordered mine as I never played it first time around and I want to see what all the fuss is about. Looking forward to it.

i tried braid the other day on my laptop....it was running at about 3fps when the screen was scrolling.

gta san andreas runs smoother

Something must have messed up then, cause all it needs is:

# Processor: 1.4GHz or faster
# Memory: 768 MB or more
# Hard Disk Space: 200 MB or more
# Video Card: Pixel Shader 2.0
# DirectX® Version: DirectX® 9.0c

That site wins! Just found:
