Hi,

Today I'm suddenly having an issue with most games and some programs, basically they crash instantly, I get the error message "xxx has stopped working". I first noticed this with XBMC (Xbox Media Center), then I tried a few Steam games, I get the same error with: Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman Arkham City, Counter Strike: Global Offensive (although this gives no error just closes instantly no message or pop-up), Hard Reset.

The only thing I can think of which could be causing this is the Windows update I did today, but I didn't get any errors or anything..

Spec:
i5 4670k /w Corsair Hydro H80 Liquid Cooler
ATI Radeon HD 7950 @1020/1250
8GB DDR3 1600MHz
Gigabyte Z87-D3HP
Samsung 128GB 830
ASUS Xonar D2
Win7 64bit

Worth noting that I installed windows on Sunday, but everything was working yesterday.

Not sure what to try, any help please?

Download and run memtest86+ to test and check your ram,try different video drivers, check reliability history in action centre since might be a clue there to the cause.

Double check all Steam games for corruption ie via file integrity checker.

It was one of the Windows updates which caused it. I've uninstalled all of them which were installed yesterday, including service pack.

Now everything is working again, I've just got to figure out what to do about these updates. I'm thinking I'll install them in small batches and check for problems.

Thanks for the replies anyway though. :)

Let me know what you found on the updates.

I installed the new updates yesterday aswell and all my games/ programs would not work uninstalled and worked again.

Hi again,

Unfortunately I don't think this is resolved after all.

I installed the service pack again (ONLY the service pack), and the same issue came back again, uninstalled and it's fine.

Anyone got any idea what could be causing the SP to do this?

Edit: I've now installed all updates except the service pack, no issues. I'm sure if I install the SP the issue will come back, but there must be a way around this.
