Bottom right I see just over 5GB of RAM usage when running games like Watch Dogs, Titanfall etc.

Am I missing something? I was under the impression I am being bottlenecked by my RAM & should think about upgrading soon.

nope got similar system to you, most memory hungry game i've seen is watchdogs which yeah takes about 5 gigs most are nearer 4. hopefully i can hold on until haswell-e before buying new ram. if anything the 920 is starting to be a slight bottleneck, seems to hold me back a bit in watchdogs. what is your fps like at 1080p everything on ultra inc textures and temporal smaa btw?

Those are the exact settings I play with in WD, 1080p, everything maxed with temp SMAA & I'm getting 50-70 FPS.
I have since changed to Adaptive Vsync because I generally get 60 FPS most of the time so thought may as well keep it constant

I was till about a month ago running on 3.3 GHz with my 920 but since then bought a Noctua cooler which allowed me to squeeze that extra bit of life out.

I don't plan to upgrade for at least another year so was trying to establish if my RAM is holding me back or if I should even consider upgrading (GTA V :P)

How you guys finding watchdogs? Do you see it as a game you'll invest a lot of time in? Was thinking about grabbing a copy, but i'm a fussy bugger.. :)

I think its awesome, at first I wasn't blown away but the game eases you in & soon portrays how good the visuals actually are.

Its no GTA (which is what I was comparing it to), Ubisoft manage to put their own spin on an open world game but in a good way. The city feels alive & vibrant. WD for me has been quite a unique experience since I haven't played many Ubisoft games in the past apart from Far Cry 3 for a bit.

There is tons to do & like Far Cry, I find myself not getting bored at all like in some GTA games. There are towers to unlock & side missions to do, lots of side missions.

Well worth the £20.99 its available at I'd say

meh i can barely reach 30 fps with ultra textures, 30-50 with high textures. guess this game really doesnt like radeon! then again another guy with a better cpu (4770k) and the same gpu as me gets your kind of frames! im confused!

i guess when you buy a game which gets to 90+% ram usage and has visible fps drops and/or crashes because of it, then get some more ram until then dont bother!

There are mixed results out there, why don't you invest in a kick-arse CPU cooler to buy yourself some extra time with the 920? You can always transfer to your next build, hopefully

V-ram seems to be becoming more of an issue than system RAM, especially with the newer console games beginning to come out, with the PS4 (and i guess xbone is the same) having unified ram means there is far more v-ram available to them than previous consoles, Watch dogs can easily eat up 3gb of v-ram and and cause performance to tank if that all you have available, i can't see any games starting to push a system with more than 8GB of system ram (especially multi-plat, as the PS4 has 8 GB ram total available)

Even with everything set at low on watch dogs just changing the options that need lots of V-ram can bring my 2 7950's to their knees.
