Make your "friend" replace them, if he borrowed them then it is his responsibility to look after them. Effectively he lost them, he replaces them.

I don't wish to appear rude but is your thread and suggestion about contacting the publishers serious or a joke?

You could get a copy of COD2 second hand for about a tenner couldn't you?

Imagine you're a publisher and you get a call "Hi my mate borrow my game and it got stolen, can you give me another copy for cheaper?". It's just not going to happen.

Make your friend replace them, he is ultimately responsible for them.

I had my car stolen once. Maybe I should have phoned Vauxhall and asked for a replacement? :p

Seriously though this is your Friends fault. I'd make him cough up!

Hehe. Got to admit I did think that was a little bit odd.

But yeah, ask your friend how he feels about the situation - try to get him to see it from your perspective?

lol, I actually thought the OP was the one who borrowed the games off a mate and not the other way round, took me 2 or 3 reads to understand whats going on. :p

Whilst your friend can't be to blame for having them stolen from him, they were in his possession and therefore he took all responsibility for the games, so it's his job to cough up for a replacement.

That's all part of the responsibility of borrowing anything.

Say you lent him £200 and he had his wallet stolen along with the money he had of yours. He would still be expected to pay you that money back as he had borrowed it. This is no different.

as said i agree with most of the coments above,

Your friend is ultimatley responsible for the items you lent him.

Now to put a twist on things, is he a good friend? Do you go round his house often an such, i had a so called mate claim something i lent him was stolen, then 2 weeks later i was around his house and there it was.

Wasnt best pelased.

Does lending games breech the licensing agreement in the same way that DVD's etc, do? I.e It's illegal unless the publisher states otherwise.

Would be a bit of a pain if he had phoned the publisher and they fined him for breaking the licensing agreement. :D :p

thankyou everyone, yeah i realise about the publishers a stupid suggestion, and i see everyones point though that it is his responsibility, i think i was hoping that there would be an easier way because i wouldnt want to ruin a friendship,

Edit:yes he is a good friend and i know he would not have stolen them for sure
