Games taking ages to install.....no idea why

Hi all

I uninstalled the demo of NFS Pro street last weeka nd ever since then, anything i seem to try and install from cd makes the system laggy and takes a small age to complete

Anyone else ever heard of this happening, and can I sort it out?

Might be worth checking that your optical drive is running in UDMA mode, not PIO

for some bizarre reason i have 3 of each primary & secondary IDE channels.....should that not be happening?
