Ive recently had the urge to start playing games with my Xbox 360 controller, but have run out of decent games to play! Does anyone know of any decent full games or demos that utilize the gamepad? So far, I have the following:

- Resident Evil 4
- DiRT
- PES 2008
- GTA:VC and GTA:SA
- Flatout
- Tomb Raider Legend

Cheers!

Orange Box comes with support for the 360 pad (albeit no rumble) and although FPS's are often best played with a mouse & keyboard combo, you may find the controller is surprisingly playable with the games.

Crysis beta has support for the 360 pad, including rumble as well, and is playable enough. Wait for the demo to roll on if you haven't got access to the beta. Not best played with a pad either but is good fun regardless.

I tried World of Warcraft and actually managed to tank an instance fairly well :p

gta is mouse & keyboard all the way dammit :|

not helpful really though :(

My biggest problem with this is whilst joypads are largely configurable for pc gaming some things never work (Flatout2 menu....)

I'd imagine any sports game will work well. Or just buy a 360 :>

Lost planet supports it, Halo 2, Sega Rally, Fifa. Bioshock?

I use it for Dirt, Sega Rally and Fifa. I cant bear game pads in fps or tps. Mouse/Keyboard is the way to go.

Any game which uses a game pad supports it, but only "Games for windows Live" support the "X" button. This will take to you the on-line section of the game.

Test Drive Unlimited
Sega Rally
Toca Race Driver
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Tomb Raider Anniversary:p
Need For Speed... Most Wanted/Carbon
footy games

if you like racing games then a joypad is a must....unless your real serious about them then nothing less than a good steering wheel will do.

I think all new and future games should offer support for gamepads as default. I understand that many prefer the keyboard and mouse combo for obvious reasons but the choice should at least be there so the gamer can choose what they enjoy.

I personally prefer a controller/mouse combo which is what I used on the recently released HL2:EP2 which worked perfectly.

On the others hand I only ever play RTS games such has C&C with a keyboard and mouse but I still think there should be controller support even for those games has I am sure some gamers would prefer to use a controller.

The best controller support I have seen recently has to be bioshock which alters the menus depending on whether you are using a keyboard or a controller.

Also the soon to be released Gears of War will alter the onscreen information depending on whether you are using a controller or keyboard which is a excellent idea.

In the meantime if you wanna get controller support for a game that has none I can recommended Pinnacle Game Profiler. It's not free but worth every penny and there is a trial version.

Normally I use mouse & keyboard for any First Person Shooter, but for Portal & Ep2 I decided to use my 360 pad just to see how it worked... gotta say it felt really natural and easy to use, I'd highly recommend it!

How do you connect the XBOX 360 controller to the PC. I presume you have to buy a wired one?

You can use either wired or wireless. If you use the wireless controller you need the wireless usb adapter for it to work. Really easy to set up.

not only that, but if you buy a game that has the 'Games for Windows' bar at the top, it sets up your controller for you, mapping the buttons to the most logical functions!

I find that any racing game and games like the grand theft auto series are best played on a joypad, everything else, which is mostly fps games on the PC I prefer keyboard and mouse :).

I got to say nothing is better than a pc. I can lock myself away on a weekend in the computer room (the smallest room in my house (3rd bedroom) and spend all day there). Keyboard and mouse is so responsive (apart from the Bioshock engine that I think is too laggy). Unfortunatley due to a trapped nerve in my back I cannot sit at the computer chair due to massive pain down leg etc and spend all my time laid down. I decided to buy an xbox 360 to while the time away as I await my operation date. My first experiance of a FPS on the console was Halo this week. I wanted to throw the gamepad throught the window. Its bloody awefull!! How do people play with gamepads they are terrible at FPS games. I am getting all frustrated if gamepads are the future of gaming. I find it impossible to strath and aim at a target with any degree at accuracy.

I know they do have their uses on a pc with games like tomb raider anniversary and racing games (if you dont have a wheel).

Anyhow thanks for the replies, am having a bad day as I want to go back on the pc bunt cant due to the prolapsed disc .

not all of us sit at these chairs made for computers...i would hardly ever spend any time at the computer sat on the leather swivel chair next to mine....mine is a single sofa at the end of a long room....with a pillow behind and an extra soft blanket underneath its by far the most comfortable chair in the house lol.

im not ill but i dont need to be to enjoy some comfort.
