What games have you replayed recently that aren't as good as you remember them being?

I'm currently playing through Jedi Outcast on what I'm sure is normal difficulty and it's an incredibly frustrating experience at times. AI tracks you behind walls and shoot at you as soon as you walk around the corner, they throw so many enemies at you and blasters being either too weak or too inaccurate to be good make the experience not as fun as I thought it was. Don't even get me started on the snipers in Nar Shaddaa. I find myself save/loading far more than I feel I should :(.

This is probably going to be blasphemy but

Half-Life and Half-Life 2.

I remember especially like the latter series.

The story lines are actually pretty lame. Recently replayed both and Halo 1 to 4. The latter is so much better.

Same for me (HL2). That said, I have modded it the odd time when something grabbed my attention, e.g. Cinematic mod.

I hate to say this but I recently tried GTA Vice City - one of my all time favourites. The humour, setting and missions are still great, but the controls and movement feel absolutely shocking even by comparison to GTA SA.

This compares poorly with KoTOR (which was released the same year), a simple texture pack and widescreen fix and that's as playable as ever.

Blasphemy! I still love playing this and the original C&C Red Alert today :D

In fact, TA is the only game I consistently beat my 2 sons at..

Yea i wasn't slamming it at all, ive been playing it a lot the last week or two after steam re introduced me to it :D! We should MP sometime :D

The only thing i have issues with on it are the unit cap and the map size :D and both i remembered as being way higher/larger

Seriously? Halo's storyline is awesome. That's why it's spawned a series of like 14 acclaimed books and live action films/tv shows.

Having recently played Halo 1-3 again (Master chief collection, Xbox One) I wouldn't say they were awesome storylines.

I'm aware there are books that build on the universe, but just the games (so far) aren't exactly citizen Kane.

Need for speed, on the Panasonic 3do. I wish I'd maintained my rose tinted, biased opinion of it rather than being faced with reality.

@Zola25 you wouldn't have a link to the texture pack/fix you used, would you? Agree, it's still a great game!

I used the Ultimate Texture Mod 0.2, but I believe newer versions are now out - IIRC this was found on the ModDB site. I also used Universal Widescreen Patcher v1.03, details of which can be found be found on WSGF.

I can't confirm if these work on the Steam version as I still have a retail copy, it's the only thing I keep an optical drive for. :)

Oddly enough I was watching a video of that yesterday, you have a point. That said it was over 20 years ago, I got that in my head as I was watching it.

One that definitely had it's 5 minutes of fame on the 3do was Return Fire. Great amazing experience at the time, but that spilt screen is kinda telling when you think about it....

Yeah, the story on HL2 was never great - I think it relied on graphics and presentation to create atmosphere. Problem is those techniques date pretty quickly. It really feels like a 2004 game. BioShock has aged much better - I'm playing it through again and it's surprising how well it holds up (even bearing in mind it's a bit newer).
