ok guys if youve just popped in to say games should be played with a mouse and a keyboard then yes i know and thanks lol

thing is i have a lappy with graphics that will do newer games at medium res or older games at high and the way i have it set up means space is at a premium and it will be much more enjoyable and comfy using a 360 pad already have fifa and grid 2 but looking for a decent shooter

tried battlefield 3 and it was ace until you have to do hand to hand combat and there is no way to execute the moves on a 360 pad which is a shame as i was getting into it.

so anyone know any others thankyou

I'm fairly certain all games for windows live games support an xbox 360 controller natively. It's just a case of plug and play.

I'm in the same boat OP.

Just picked up Grid2 and that runs surprisingly well.

I've also got Borderlands 2, BF3, CS:Go, Call of Duty (Single player), Pcars, Fifa 13, Crysis off the top of my head. I think the only stuff you can't play is FPS online games. Anything else seems OK.

most racing and third person action/rpg games, ie gta iv, witcher 2, dark souls etc. also skyrim. also most 1st person shooters, just stay away from multiplayer, and they might be a bit more challenging.

In the case of bf3, are you able to map the keys you cant use on a controller with xpadder?

What actions didnt work on the BF3? When I first migrated from Xbox > PC, I used the Xbox controller and it was identical button wise, only issue was the Spot button brought up the scoreboard straight away, whereas on the Xbox you have to hold it for a period, so I had to disable scoreboard.

the issue with bf3 was i had to do some actions and the action button did work ie set a timer or cut the wire and then you get attacked by a soldier and had to press certain buttons to fend him off

they worked fine on the keyboard but flatly refused to work on the joypad :(

Plenty of games will have controller support however for online FPS games like BF3 it will be very hard to compete with players using a mouse and keyboard.

Do an advanced search on the Steam store and filter for partial/full controller support. The selection is pretty big these days.
