This has always intrigued me.

I love the idea of games like WoW, EVE Online and so on, that you really have to invest a lot of time and energy into to get any real returns.

So, what games do you play/have you played that follow this theme? And how long have you committed to them?

Probably RuneScape, can't think of anything else I've put anywhere near the same hours in, well over 54 days of playtime in the last 5 years. :D

I've played RS on and off for about 6 years, its not as graphical or intense as wow i suppose, but i never really got into it.

Its fun and there is a tonne of stuff to do on it once you get what you're doing.

Its a lot like heroin, Very moreish. Im on 82 days

Weak! 277 days 6 hours (7 years) (honestly makes me sick thinking about it)

Recently though. EvE has me gripped... i foresee a similar situation as above for sure.

Guildwars1 i sank a fair bit of time into too.

Thing is.. eve eats your out of game time too! Runescape and guildwars were only time sinks when logged in. Eve though... its 24/7 on evemon/EFT. Reading, researching or just planning and thinking... spreadsheeting (if you're a big indy guy or large corp leader guy...)

amazing game.

Been playing WOW for almost 7 years now, and probably have about 2 Years game time /played across all of my Characters. Most of that was clocked up when I was still single, but even now married with kids I still play about 8-9 Hours week.

Still enjoying it immensely and with the last expansion (MoP) and the recent content patches, still feels like there is plenty to do, and something for everyone.

TBH, assume WOW will come to an end one day, and when that day comes I will be quite sad - have had great times over the years, and met lots of new friends.
