Morning boys,

I got a new gpu, a 780 GTX 3GB superclocked, it's on it's way from OcUK as we speak.

I previously had a 670 GTX FTW, but it's gone walkies after sending it to EVGA to be fixed/replaced.

So... I know there is a fair bit of performance boost, but I'm looking for games that can utilise that extra 1GB of memory. And also, in general show me some awesome graphics :P

I was thinking of

Planetside 2
GTA IV
Assassins Creed Black Flag
Batman Arkham City

Oh, here in lies the elephant in the room, I run at 1080p, so yes, the card is slightly over kill, but I'm looking at getting a larger monitor this weekend. But base your suggestions off 1080p as that's what my 50" plasma out puts.

crysis 3 is the ultimate graphics wise for testing purposes.

crysis 2 with maldo mod on is also great.
skyrim with ENB mods is amazing but a lot of messing about.

a bit of a test but if you play bf4, whack all the settings to their highest (ultra of number value), put the resolution scaling to 200% and then put sweet fx on too and see how it fairs ;)

can also run the heaven benchmark and see how smooth it is :D and then the things suggest, skyrim with mods etc etc etc

don't forget to pre order Metro 2033 Redux;

From STeam Page;

For Metro 2033 Redux, Metro 2033 has been rebuilt using the newest version of the powerful 4A Engine, last seen in action in Metro: Last Light. That means advanced lighting, dynamic weather, higher detail for characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction, and improved smoke, fire, and particle effect.

Crysis 3, nothing else compares graphically and it's also extremely well optimised, so it's more of a truer test of hardware power than anything else. Also, my 670 can't run quite a few games at 1920x1200, so I wouldn't say a 780 is overkill. It's a solid card and a good upgrade choice for someone who wishes to continue playing at 1080p+.

Some ace suggestions :D Sadly, it's arriving tomorrow, and I want to play games now!

I've bought a few lego games :P That should stress the beast out :P

Also, anyone got any remarks on a 780 giving decent performance on Planetside 2? Or is that wishful thinking?

My 780 flies in Planetside 2 on max settings at 1080p. Fast and smooth. Frame rate always around 60fps which appears to be a game engine limitation(i have a 120Hz screen).

Your shiney new GPU is not overkill at all for 1080p in the latest games.:)

Enjoy.:cool:

Cool, again thanks everyone. Putting my mind at rest that I didn't just dump £350 on a gpu that's not needed.
