Can anyone tell me if there are any games other than Borderlands which have random loot generation?

Ideally it'd also allow you to build your weapons/armour/vehicle out of scavenged parts.

I enjoyed poring over a comparison of stats in Borderlands, but wish it had let you pick and mix parts, ala Fallout.

I've only just started playing The Division so I might be wrong, but that appears to have what you describe. And if you're quick (12 hours or so left) you can grab the Gold Edition for £15 on Steam or Uplay, that's 80% off.

Not what I had planned on doing but the game looks decent, and not having time to try the demo I bought it since at this price it not that much lost incase it's not to my liking. I do like the fact it might have random loot generation, makes it more fun to play games.

So thank you, I guess ! :p

Grim Dawn and expansion also has random generated items, some can be BIS if your lucky with rolls on them, its like D3 in gameplay but the story is better and the setting is really good.

It has the ability to pick 2 different classes and build your character exactly how you want to, or you can stay as a single class if you want.
There are tons of set items ranging from low level right up to maximum level.
Randomly generated items, many of which can actually end up BIS if you get good rolls.
A Devotion system where you can spend points on stuff to bolster your character skills or abilities etc.

Not only that its incredibly cheap on GoG or Steam, definitely worth every penny.

Theres also a Crucible Addon on that allows you to play in an arena and defeat waves of increasingly harder monsters for rewards etc.

Probably the best ARPG ive ever played and probably the most underrated as well, if you have ever played Titan Quest its from the same dev team, and better still its coming to the Xbox soon too :)

I adored Titan Quest, one of my favourite games of its type ever. Came back to it over and over. Snapped up Grim Dawn when it came along as it was by the same people but I just never got on with Grim Dawn at all, I dont know if it is the aesthetics or it being quite gun based rather than the fantasy of Titan Quest but just never clicked with it.

Even today I still prefer to play Titan Quest than Grim Dawn.

Gun based? While there are guns in it, wouldn't go as far as saying that. I have literally 100s of hours and have never used one :)

Perhaps not quite the kind of game you had in mind but Darksiders 2 has randomly generated weapons and armour that also be upgraded or dismantled to aid the upgrading of other weapons and armour. Great game too.

Well, more gun based than Titan Quest :)

But its probably more to do with the aesthetics, where everything is so dark and grimy (as befitting the lore) I just found that it made everything on the screen look messy and found it hard to really make things out, I found Titan Quest much more clean and crisp looking. Which is a shame as I say, because I adored Titan Quest and really thought I would Grim Dawn too.

Its hard to put my finger on, especially as I really like Warhammer Inquisitor and thats also gunny and dark, but just somehow looks less messy and more clean and crisp

Since both Titan Quest and Darksiders (although it was Darksiders 2, but might also been similar loot system in the first ?) been mentioned here, I thought I post this here as well. Fanatical has both, and third called Red Faction Guerrilla Steam Edition in a bundle for 9.99 Euro. Only for the next 18 hours though. Linky

Torchlight 2 for good ARPG with loot
If you want something with a more modern theme, I believe Shadow Warrior 2 is FPS with a loot based focus.
I played some of The Division on the xbox, that had quite also covered the loot based system, with random weapon drops (not as random as Borderlands though) and options for weapon mods (

I don’t think anything has loot more random than Path of Exile. New league just started a week or so ago as well so a good time to jump in, plus it’s free!

Just remember the developer’s name is Grinding Gear Games for a reason...

I picked up Grim Dawn on Friday and i have been playing it almost non stop. Clocked up about 24 hours since Friday. Good recommend.
