Having recently played this I was surprised at how it made me feel at a certain point. Especially considering the retro looking visuals, the story and music just carried the whole thing. Cost about £2 and it's pretty much the only game to make me 'feel' :D

Just wondering to those who have played it, is there anything else with that same sort of magic out there?

Upon googling I see suggestions like telltales games but that's not quite what I'm after really

Spec Ops: The Line

And to be a bit of a wildcard; ARK: Survival Evolved. You get attached to your best pets after a while and their deaths are usually inevitable, depending on certain factors and it can be a real blow to the manbits when they go.

Thanks for suggestions so far, will look at never alone, played brothers and it almost had me but not to the level of to the moon

I can sort of see ark, though not quite what I'm thinking, appreciate the thought though and see where you are coming from!

Yeah, I played played To The Moon and Two Brothers. They are both very good, but I agree To The Moon is more emotional.

After the success of To The Moon I was hoping to see this kind of emotional game in a triple a game, but nothing so far. Most triple a games these days lack a really good story.

Will have to give that game a look. Two brothers for me was superb. Worth a look maybe is Dear Esther which is more a walking story game and Ethan Carter, which has a strong story.

Got Ethan Carter, but decided to save if and use it when I get a Vive 2 when it comes out. Looks like it will play very well in VR :D

This War of Mine is great for emotions.
I'm not sure if its possible to complete without your conscience coming into play.

"Life is Strange" is amazing. Very mature treatment of some difficult themes. Don't let the high school/college setting put you off.

Goat Simulator. Nothing else quite captures the emotional roller-coaster that is the life of a goat. To be fair, no other game has tried, but credit where credit is due.

I wasn't enjoying valiant hearts but the gameplay started to get in the way for me, burned out on it unfortunately

Some good suggestions here, there is a to the moon sequel on the way following the playable characters and a new patient

They did a short spin off to which is said to be good for similar reasons

Keep them coming :D

Yeah, enjoyed Never Alone a lot. Limbo is a bit like that too.

Spate is another. Not the best of gameplay (neither is Never Alone, though), but enjoyed the atmosphere (one big ASMR hit) and the character's story.

I'm going to throw Firewatch in to the mix, really liked how the story made me feel as it progressed.

Awwww Ethan Carter and Dear Esther have amazing atmosphere. I just wish someone would push that kind of writing into a AAA game. The closest I have come to that is the first 10 minutes of "The Last Of Us" on PS3. I was in tears FFS. Brilliantly written intro. One of the few console games that I wished was available on PC.

:D

I would agree with you on this the game is simply amazing it's the first time i have played a type of game that is really into the story telling as the main selling point, it really made me emotional at times as i do love reading books like the story in the game so i would really recommend this game to anyone who likes a good story.

Fire watch is one I have been meaning to pick up^^ hear the ending is quite poop but should get something out of it! Steam sale soon so will keep eye out there
