Just as it says on the tin. What kind of games do you guys hate, that seem to be uber popular with everyone else?

For example. I went and bought Street Fighter 4 on the 360 today. I was utterly disappointed with it. The graphics are absolutely stunning, the presentation is really slick overall and the menu's the sound effects, the voice acting, the entire package is really neat, tidy, and impressive. However, somebody forgot to tell Capcom that it's not the early nineties and we kind of expect a little bit more than a graphical update to street fighter alpha, well, by "we" I mean me. There are about 10 moves to master with each character, and you can't even go in any direction other than backwards, forwards, jump and crouch. Games have moved on since 1992 and I expected to at least have some interactive scenery, or the ability to go around your opponent instead of jump, crouch, forward, back.

I know that this is what SF has always been about but if you keep on releasing the same game with different graphics then the only word I can think of is stale. I paid £30 for a game that is essentially more than a decade old with some updated graphics. I haven't disliked a game this much since Halo 3. But that's a different post entirely.

So what are your thought on games that the mainstream love, but that you hate?

:)

Like the OP eluded to - Halo 3 for me.... actually scratch that all 3 Halo games

Ok so when it was released maybe I can see why maybe the first Halo was a success what with it being the XBOX's franchise FPS but IMO do any of the Halo games come anywhere close to Goldeneye on the N64? No. Do any of them come anywhere close to Half Life or if judging the supposed brilliant multiplayer does that come anywhere close to Counter Strike Source? No. In more modern terms how can you compare Halo 3 game with COD4: Modern Warfare or one of my real personal favourites BioShock?

Really cannot for the life of me understand the fuss about Halo, nothing great graphically, nothing fresh and original in terms of Gameplay and completely over-hyped multiplayer but then I guess with the Microsoft PR department behind you you could convince Eskimos to buy all your Ice

Bioshock, overrated in every way.
Resident Evil, I don't get which part is supposed to be fun, the boring simple puzzles, the crazy inventory system or the idea that there's something scary about badly rendered dogs.
Every GTA game after 2 and before 4, I just did not get it
GTA 4, Not sure whether I reallllly hate it, I play it online and like to mess about, but nothing about the singleplayer is enjoyable at all, not to mention the characters, mostly I like the technical achievements within the game engine but hate the actual "game" part of it.

How old are you? 18?

Assassin's Creed
A case of style over substance. Might look and sound fantastic but the level design and mission variety's repetitive and bland. It's like they created one city and cut and paste it a few times.

Don't know why I didn't like this game but I found myself getting bored after only 15 minutes. Took me months to complete it and I was glad it was over when I did.

Uncharted Drakes Fortune.

gears of war shooty clone added with some tomb raider bits mixed in with with lots of repetition in level design and killing the one same enemy type again and again....and again

:D

everyone else went gaga at it for the graphics...meh...

Bioshock

the random level generator did it for me :p Mucho repetition in gameplay on each "level"

Dead Space

Dont hate it but suffered from the same level design crapiness as bioshock.

I was, and while SkyFall is big enough and ugly enough to speak to himself, I'm now confused...

What is your point?

Let me spell it out then; When Resident Evil was released, dinosaurs still roamed the rapidly cooling plant we now call Earth. This lead to a new gaming genre called survival horror.
Now all those horror and 'b' movie fans out there embraced this move, just as a Hammer House of Horror Vampire embraced a lilly white skinned virgins neck.

In short, it was and still is great and was ahead of its time. (however cr*p it may be by todays standards)
