Everytime I reinstal bf2 (and thats been a lot lately) I get the option to install gamespy arcade forced on me it says its supposed to optimise my BF2 experience. I always have declined but what extra features do you get by doing this and is it worth it?

thanks

Stay the hell away from it...just bloatware and the only reason EA sticks with the appalling in-game server browser is because of the financial agreements between EA and Gamespy.

Still sucks that you cant use the ASE to find a server and then launch the game from within ASE.

Gamespy sucks
EA sucks

BF2 is the only reason to tolerate either of the above.....but at least you get the choice to dump Gamespy.

Agree'd ,dont install gayspy what ever you do

Use XFire, I think its much better. It's basically a gamers IM, Server browser and gaming files download program (e.g patches, demos etc.)

i agree with that, but xfire only works well once youve got a decent friends list going really. as you can bookmark your fave servers and players and join them. its support for bf2 is quite limited though as the servers in my xfire dont show a lot of info

I'm a subscriber to both Gamespy and ASE i've also not long started to use xfire propperly and it's my opinion that Xfire blows both Gamespy and ASE out the water and best of all it's free and not bogged down with adds :)

I won't be continuing my sub with Gamespy thats for sure.
