Hi everyone I recently posted a thread for a build but had a few question so just started another thread.

i said I am after a gaming rig for my living room as no office any more the main purpose of the rig is gaming and in particular rts games like total war Attila and the new Warhammer total war also want this system to play the latest games and last a good 3 year or so and want to play the games on high settings.

my budget is around £600 and I really like the prodigy m case the last spec I was given was
1 x MSI Radeon R9 380 Gaming 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £158.99
1 x Intel Core i5-4460 3.20GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £149.99
1 x MSI Z97I AC Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard £89.99
1 x BitFenix Prodigy Mini-ITX Cube Case - Midnight Black £64.99
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L8 500W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply - With 120mm Silent Wing Fan Built in £47.99
1 x Crucial BX100 120GB SSD SATA 6Gbps 7mm Solid State Drive (CT120BX100SSD1) £46.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Fury White 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C10 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (HX318C10FWK2/8) £38.99
1 x Seagate 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD - OEM (ST1000DM003) £34.99
1 x Samsung SH-118CB/BEBE SATA 18x DVD-ROM (Black) - OEM £13.99
1 x BitFenix Prodigy Window Side Panel - Black £9.95
Total : £656.86 (includes shipping : Ex.VAT).

but I had a few questions like do I need a cpu cooler?
does having smaller case make any compromise over a larger one at all in performance or will it be just as powerfull etc ?
will it be worth paying extra £20 for 4 gig graphics card
and I now want to scrap the cd drive and get a temp led display with temperatures etc + looks cool.

I would prefer to be under the £600 mark but any recommendations or component lists very welcome and if something makes a huge difference for not much more money I don't mind ,I thank micky for the above one

thanks again dean

thanks lemin great spec but I want a bitfenix prodigy m case will that mobo etc fit in that case ? and will I need a cpu cooler?

Do you plan on overclocking at all if not then stock hsf will be fine, having a smaller case does not directly impact performance but if you don't have effective cooling could cause throttling due to heat. The extra £20 for 4gb is definitely worth it.

ATX mobo wont fit prodigy m case, bundle has stock cooler, small case can be hotter to run, and micro mobo not as cheap for good one.

Above looks good.

yeah this is the case I like BitFenix Prodigy M MATX Cube Case - Arctic White
or midnight black not sure yet

will stock cooler be hot enough and is it worth over clocking for games will it make me be able to play better games on higher settings etc ?

is this x Sapphire Radeon R9 Nitro 380 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (11242-07-20G) £179.99 better than the 4 gig version of this
MSI Radeon R9 380 Gaming 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £158.99?

whats best mobo and cpu to go for then as lemin said wont work in this case ?

would this fan controller work as matches case better BitFenix Recon Internet-Connected Fan Controller (Black)
thanks again dean

No I think he was talking about his spec the bundle i did will fit in that case as its a matx bundle. They are all pretty similar go for which ever 4gb 380 you prefer the look of msi or sapphire ones both equally good. Bitfenix fan controller will be fine as well.

Potentially overclocking will give more performance but again you will be limited in matx/itx cases to heat build up and you would need an after market cooler to do that. also the bundle is not an overclocking bundle you would need a K intel cpu and z97 mobo to overclock which is going to cost more.

You could replace the bundle with this which will enable you to overclock in the future if you require it, but again increases the budget by another 100

thanks for that dazzy probable wont over clock but nice to have option I suppose, you think this Asus H81M-K Intel Core i5 DIY Micro ATX Motherboard, CPU & RAM Bundle or
1 x Intel Core i5-4460 3.20GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £154.99
1 x Gigabyte Z97M-DS3H Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £77.99 these 2 wil be best then I will get ram depending on my colour sheme is best ? and will the stock cooler do as I have always purchased a separate cooler with other builds but if not needed I wont worry

would this fan controller work as matches case better
BitFenix Recon Internet-Connected Fan Controller (Black)

thanks again daz

you think its worth buying so have option in future ? only a little more expensive also the cpu separate is 3.2 ghz but the one in the kit says 3.1 or 3.3 turbo ? any real difference

the more I think about it I don't think I will be overclocking this machine don't have time to learn or to do so think will go with the Asus H81M-K Intel Core i5 DIY Micro ATX Motherboard, CPU & RAM Bundle you think this will the 4 gig Radeon r9 ether sapphire or msi one is no better than the other is it just the looks ? lastly will this bundle play total war games and the new warrhammer total war without any problems etc ?

thanks for all your help Dean
