Afternoon

I’ve never been an online community gamer but my son has taken to playing Minecraft with his school friends during lockdown.

Currently he needs two devices, the main desktop that he runs minecraft on and then a laptop that he chats on zoom with.

What do you regular online gamers use to chat while gaming? Is there something that I’m missing. Ideally I would prefer it all on the desktop with some sort of picture in picture gaming overlay but I am so out of the loop when it comes to community gaming.

I’m more of a sole gamer so not sure what is popular?

MODS, please move this thread if it is in the wrong location?

Many thanks

Darren

I'm no expert on this but people mainly use discord to chat with each other. Their will be a Minecraft community but I would imagine it may be difficult to police it compared to Zoom.

Create a private channel on discord, then use this to chat. It will be audio only though, not group video unless they've added that.

Thank you both, yes anything I set up will be private, they're only 9 so don't want them chatting with random people and frankly I don't think they would want to either.

I'll check out Discord
