Hi all.

I posted in the upgrade thread before Christmas regarding my PC spec which is:
CPU I7 5820K overclocked
RAM 16GB
Mobo Asus X99-S
GPU |GTX980
PSU Leadex 1000w

I was advised to upgrade GPU for now. However, I forgot to add the resolution I play at therefore Im seeking advice on here regarding GPU route still the best direction and if so which one?

I play the likes of PUBG.

I personally would stay with that cpu a bit more especially for the resolution you are playing.

What fps are you getting currently on your 980 that you are not happy with and what would be your budget for a new gpu because you can get anything basically.

The resolution also being ultrawide 1080p shouldn't be really intense, how many hz does it run on?

Thanks for the reply. On medium settings FRAPS reports an average of 72fps. I started looking as I was getting some stuttering on high settings and video crashes but only on PUBG. Resolution at 60Hz

Hmm stuttering might mean a bottleneck as well, what about CPU and GPU % usage? Try with vsync on as well if you do avg 72 fps you should be good.

So definitelly your CPU is more than capable and no need to change. Maybe give it an oc if you can. Try with vsync and see if you get stuttering. I think you can get some more time out of it.

I would concider upgrading once the games I play are not playing with the visuals I want. Ie all maxed out and 60 fps.

But every person is different, and lately due to years of console gaming I won't mind to play a game at 4k in 30fps or lower res. Damn you nvidia for charging an arm and two legs for 4k gaming. Looks like console peasant life suits me more than pc master race...

Just spotted now you have your cpu overclocked. Was 72avg on medium settings?
Yes it was. I was having some issues with PUBG freezing and/or a crash to desktop with a message saying "video memory trying to allocate texture" I reduced settings to see if it stopped the crash.

Try using DDU Display Driver Uninstaller and reinstalling your graphics card drivers, could be a driver conflict, worth a shot as they say !

Thanks. Ive just done that and increased settings to medium no stuttering or crashes.. yet. Fingers crossed. May hold off on new card if this continues to have sorted out stuttering and crashes.
