Hey folks.

I notice the res of most 24" monitors is 1900x1200.
Probably will affect fps trying to game at that res.
Would it be very detrimental to run at 1680xwhatever it is instead?
I mean like would it look rubbish, or would it be ok?

my hyundai w240d, scales very well

you could either use 1-1 pixel mapping and get the 1680x1050 res on the 24" screen or you could let the screen scale itself.

mine does a very good job with both, espeically the scaling. Obviously it wont look as good as native, but its perfectly fine for games.

If you wanted to game at the lower res's why not gofor a smaller screen, or even use a HDTV for gaming (a 720p resolution)

I game at 1920x1200 and I can just manage 60fps with a single 8800GTX on COD4 with everything maxed out @ 4AA and that anti-what-you-call-it filtering, so unless you got a beefy graphics card you'll find it hard to game at 1920.

what are your specS?

Same thing with my Dell 2007WFP, when gaming it looks fine below it's native res stretched to fill the screen. I've used it loads of times like that. Guess it has a good scaler.

Currently using an x1800xt, which has lasted me nicely for about 2 years now.
About time to upgrade the gfx anyways.

I'd be interested in the 1920x1200 res for music production apps where I tend to need a lot of active windows for all the vsti's and stuff.

When I had my OCUK 24" Monitor, gaming at 1680x1050 was just as good and I felt there was little or no detriment to the quality.

never really noticed the difference on my w240d . i cant quite run all games on max so i drop the the res to 1650 i would sooner have fps than eye candy
