Hi guys ive just recently built a gaming pc with componants bought from here.

i5 4670k
270x
8gb ram
gigabyte 87x-sli
1tb
550w superflower gold

ive decided to give that to my lad and build another for myself.

I have a limit of £700 excluding delivery costs. I would like to get a r9 280/x and a 4670k into the build and a motherboard chipset like z85 since ill be swapping mine for the z87-sli as my sons wont be overclocked at all.

no os needed or m/k monitor.

use ur magic guys :)

id really not recommend a z85 board under any gaming circumstance! the £20 youd save by going B85 really isn't worth it, especially considering the extra hassle of rebuilding the other PC with it

edit: spec inc - any requests on color scheme or styling?

over budget, and i chose some of the most budget parts available! i think you'll struggle getting the price to £700 max with your component choices, id also suggest waiting until it's in stock and choosing RJC's psu suggestion, having said that, the one i chose shouldn't give you any problems! good luck with your build, let us know what you decide

I was just looking at that, the case can take coolers upto 160mm in height, I think some one else had issues.

The product description is a bit misleading, as I don`t think they have accounted for the height of the fan when fitted.

true, but i didn't want to suggest something which could leave him with a (potentially) unsatisfactory overclock and it be my fault! :p OP i think this spec is the closest you'll get to your budget ^, the Z87 board potentially works out cheaper than a B85 as it comes with a cooler which should let you do a moderate overclock

Well that cooler can't be that bad xD It's £27 over, but if you want Intel and a 280x then there it is. Drop the DVD writer and you might be a bit closer (install windows of a USB or perhaps borrow another drive for the installation? :) )
