Hi guys. Last time I built a computer was in 2008 and since then I've completely fell out of the loop with regards to what's what in the performance world. Read quite a few threads on here and this is what I've come up with:

Payday isn't till the end of the month so I still have a couple of weeks to see what the deal is with Bulldozer but if nothing is concrete by then I will be going for Sandybridge. Gone with the 900w psu because it's likely I will go SLI in the future.

If anyone has any suggestions then I'd be very grateful to hear them, thanks.

You won't see Bulldozer by the end of the month, don't worry.

What res are you running? A flashable 6950 2GB will have similar performance to the 570 for less money, and two 5850s will have performance well in excess of either for the same price as the 6950.

You only need 4GB of RAM for gaming, so if you want to shave £40 off, there's the place.

Differences between cases past about the £60 mark generally boil down to aesthetics, so if the 932 is your best looking case for the money, then go for it, but bear in mind that if you're spending the extra £50 odd for "case performance", you could put that £50 into nearly any other part of the computer and get a greater performance gain.

Resolution will be 1920x1080.

I'm not too fussed about saving £50 here and there, I just won't have enough to get two 570's off the bat which is why I'm waiting till next month for the other one.

Cases I haven't looked into that greatly, that one above is just sort of a 'placeholder' so I have an idea of the final price.

The only area I'm not too sure about is the motherboard. I know there are Z68 and P67 but I have no idea what the difference is. Is it worth going for one over the other for gaming?

Problem with that case is no dust filters so you should go for the HAF-X instead which is a newer better case.

I would change the hardrive to a 1TB samsung F3 myself then add a 2TB storage drive if need be later.Spec looks good though other than that.

HAF-X is a great case for the money (and pretty light), as synco said, change your hd, as you are going for a z68 you may as well go sata 3.

SLI'd GTX 570s is massive overkill for 1900x1080, hope you realise this. Anandtech puts Crysis: Warhead's fps at your res, on super duper settings, at 48.5 for a single 570, or 64.9 for CF'd 5850s. Unless you're determined to spend an extra £250-£300 to max out the remaining settings in the handful of games that are more demanding than this, and you absolutely must have 60 FPS at all times (or you can break the laws of physics and can display >60fps on a 60Hz monitor), you're better off saving your money.

it certainly does not hurt to have 8gb of ram these days, given the price of ram and the fact you might want the machine to last 2-3 good years things will start using more than 4 and it saves u putting another 4 gb in and loading up the ram controller more when everclocking, Stick 8gb in now and be done :D

Good build though to be fair570 is also a very good card, personally i would get the best single card you can now then it leaves room for improvement later but thats just IMO

What games do you play ?

Mainly TF2, and The Old Republic when it comes out. Hardly demanding I know but I've been buying all the new games for consoles lately because my current PC can't handle them anymore.

120Hz certainly changes the goalposts a bit, particularly if you're gaming in 3D, or you can tell the difference above 60Hz (most people can't tell much above 40, as the human eye only works in 30fps anyway, but some say it provides a more fluid and smooth picture).

Your current strategy of buying a single high-powered card and then upgrading if you want the extra above 60Hz is probably a good idea, as a single 570 or whatever will be able to push you well beyond 60fps in TF2, so you'll be able to tell the difference quickly.
