Hi

Looking for some help, I know its not the best time for this due to prices. Having looked around I'm struggling.

I'm after a new build between £600-£700 - Tower only. Pre-built would be ideal due to time constraints, but I could at a push build myself.

Is it possible to build a tower with that budget to play current games?

Many thanks

From scratch, not really..
Cheapest current gen gpu would be 3060tife from a drop... Subscribe to FEPartAlert on telegram on your phone... Drops anytime about once a month, sell out in minutes... Once you've got that then can look for everything else..3060ti aib will set you back £700 in itself. .
Prebuild did see a 6600xt build for about £1050 on another site which was black friday.. At time buying parts was over £1300..havent looked recently

You maybe able to find a pre built with a GTX 1660 for around that price but it won't set the world alight.

Unless your spending over 1K on a PC then your probably better with a next gen console as you will get a much better gaming experience.

I’m ok with it not setting the world alight aha, just enough to run some current games - minecraft, fortnite, shell shock etc..

Is it possible for a budget version, if I put more towards it?
Like, is there a way of minimally adding to my budget as I could find further funds

It is possible for a little more (£894.97) and yeah, not everyone can just jump into the 30 gpu series of gaming.

You could go for this config - with an i5 and a GTX 1650 D6 VENTUS XS OC it'll play most games alright, I see the GTX 1650 running everydaya dn it's not a bad card, you just need to, for some gpu heavy games to adjust the settings a bit.

Nice bring this thread up.. @Bluehell , did you get anything?...now that 12400 about could go for something like this below...psu on offer and will be able to handle a more powerful gpu down the line...looked at smaller psu, but weren't that much cheaper. Need to add a copy of windows, and gpu wont set world on fire, but saw reviewer playing overwatch ok, so guessing s/b able to handle minecraft etc
OCuk not selling 12400 yet, but can get elsewhere...so place you can

Gigabyte B660M gaming DDR4 £96.19
Intel i5 12400 £192.69 can save £19 going for F variant
Kingston Fury 16gb 3600CL17 £63.77
WD SN550 1TB 69.40
Total £422.05

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £362.27 (includes shipping: £12.30)

excluding shipping £772

Just buy a second hand machine with a GTX 1070 or better. Even if the specs aren't ideal you'll end up with something better than a GTX 1650 if you want to play games.

The was a B450/R5 2600/16GB 3200/500GB SSD/GTX 1070 Ti that sold near me for £535. Horrid case but overall it was much better than buying new.

That not bad seeing as 1070ti seem to be 350+ on auction site... Op had asked what he could get as a prebuild or new self build though... He may well of been looking 2nd hand and wanted to compare against new, who knows. 12400 way better than the 2600 though. Anyway, back in December there was no way getting new build close to his budget... Now its close

Plenty people still selling PC's at sensible prices on FB and classifieds etc. You just need to get a full spec list before you waste your time going to look at them.

I am not going to assume or guess what the OP might have been looking at previously, just offering some advice as to how to maybe achieve something worthwhile. It's not like anyone really wants a Radeon 6500XT for £200+ even if it is brand new. I'm tending to advise people to wait if they don't need a PC for anything other than games if they don't have a graphics card, I've had people spend £350 on a 1660 Super, then be left with £350 for the rest of the system and want to play at 1440p 100Hz Med/high, but some people just don't listen and think before throwing the money away.

I do NOT understand the Above. 1660 Super was great for games not so long ago so what has changed....I for one am Glad I do not Game. Photography is my Game.

Better performance with 8gb VRAM the only downside being no warranty but then buying a new 4gb card it will still need replacing sooner rather than later.
doesn't mean it's about to die, I'm still using a 4670k haswell and 980ti.
so 8 year old CPU and 6 year old GPU.

still games fine too at 1080

don't even need to go with low settings, can do high even in most games, obviously no RTX but whatever.

you people overestimate what you need to game unless he's wanting 4k

I probably just stick with this unless starfield is worth upgrading for, hardly any reason to upgrade...

Which is why I'd pick up a used 1070, rx580 or even a 980ti over a new 6500XT anyday of the week.
