Gaming Build Help - CPU/GPU pairing

I’m trying to decide on a gaming build and don’t know which of these machines would give me the best performance.

• I5-8400/gtx 1060 6GB/z370 MoBo
• I5-8400/rx 580 8GB/b350 MoBo
• Ryzen 5 1600/rx 580 8gb/b350 MoBo

I’ll be playing on a 144hz monitor with Freesync so I don’t know if the amd gpus are worth it to take advantage of the Freesync even though I’d probably get better fps with the 1060?

There’s less than £100 between the builds but it 1060 is the cheapest option. Dual channel 16GB 3000mhz ram on all builds

If anyone could give their opinion about which would perform best that’d help me a lot. Thank you

Yeah, that’s another possibility but I thought the i5 should be slightly better for single core gaming. Do you think the 1600/1060 would be better?

Thank you, tamzzy. I’ll go with the 1600/580 combination then. I only mentioned the single core gaming because some games will still get a slightly better frame rate on the i5 because of it. I won’t miss those few frames with Freesync though so it doesn’t matter. Decision made
