Hi

New gaming build. Budget £1000. Finished Uni so don't need i7 for video editing/3D modelling any more. Recently moved to London to start a new job so want a semi-portable build until I get properly settled somewhere. Intention is to overclock but not SLI:

Will be reusing HHD's, maybe sound card and possibly my Samsung 830 SSD from my old build.
Been working up this build for about a month, going back and forth between mobos, GFX cards and PSU's... I think I'm more than happy with this.

Any obvious changes/comments would be great.
 
I think the motherboard is OTT and it would also benefit from faster RAM. You could also get a cracking deal on a 7970 as they are seriously cheap now, but AMD are announcing their new series later on tonight.

Slightly cheaper, better, PSU. Savings used to upgrade to a much better SSD.

Regarding the Mobo; I had initially spec'd the MSI Z87m-G43, but after finding what little reviews I could on it I changed my mind because their seemed to be quite a few flaws with it. One being an issue with only running one single stick of RAM which I intend to do.

I decided to go back with ASUS because that is what I know, if there is one of the less expensive models that does much the same I'd be more than happy to change. The Red/black theme was a nice addition but not necessary, I'm getting the windowless version of the case so it isn't a factor.

PSU and SSD changed, thanks. I'v had 2 samsung SSD's before and never had issues, so that's a fine upgrade.

As for the gfx card, unless AMD really rock the boat with what they have to say tonight, I'm more than happy sticking with a 770.

Unless there's a reason as to why you must have a gtx770 you can get the gtx 680 for cheaper.

Sorry but the one thing out of the spec that I am very unlikely to change is the case, Iv built the rest pretty much around it. Also, I like the fact that the mATX gives a reasonable reduction in overall build size without the restrictions/sacrifices that come when building an ITX. Under different circumstances it would be going a full size ATX build rather than the over way.

But (as i figured out to someone else's expense *hides head in shame*) it only comes with a 6 pin and a 8 pin PCI-E lead where the HCP comes with two 8 pins IIRC..

I know two 8 pins aren't needed for this card but im learning my lesson. :)

Not the 7970 Matrix.. :)

Like i say a PSU with a 6 pin and an 8 pin would be fine in this build (as the GPU specced only requires such)..

But the Antec has 2 x 8 pins (6+2) so the user is covered for every eventuality. :)
