My PC is long in need of an upgrade and im wondering if someone could offer some sensible suggestions on the build.
I'll list the current build below and I think I can probably keep the case, GPU, SSD and PSU.

Current Build:

  • Lian Li O11D

  • EVGA Geforce 3080 RTX

  • Intel i7-6700K 4Ghz

  • 32GB Corsair Dominator DDR Memory

  • Asus Maximus Hero VIII

  • Samsung Evo 970 1TB SSD

  • Corsair 850W RM Gold PSU

Ideally, I think i'll need CPU, Motherboard, RAM and closed loop water cooler with radiator (2 or 3 120mm fans will fit).

I play the occasional games, Satisfactory, Fortnight, Modern Warfare as well as using it for work.

Im not too sure on the budget, certainly under £1k but im sure there is likely a sweet spot where more money spent is seeing less benefit? Thanks

no demanding work at all, Office Apps etc, no video editing or such.
Yeah, 7800X3D is fine then.

FYI: you don't need to water cool that CPU, a peerless assassin/phantom spirit is enough.

Baseline build:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £631.92 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Blow the budget build:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £986.96 (includes delivery: £0.00)

The main benefit of the Taichi is rear USB4, but with the new boards due soon and USB4 supposed to be more common, it is likely you would pay too much.

Gigabyte have a cheaper board with USB4: "B650E Aorus Pro X USB4", though the M.2 config is somewhat suboptimal on that board.

£52 if you know how to Google. A bargain of an aio really. I cannot fathom why anyone would want to pay much more

thats only £7 more than i paid for a B-grade cooler with no fans. i would have been all over it.
do they plan to make a 240 or 280 my brother needs a new cooler his NZXT sounds like a tractor but he as a small case
