budget is £100

Had a 4870, that did'nt seem too bad. as monitor is 1680 x 1050 max.
but its gone now, long story...

with the above budget is it possible I can get a card that would be atleast as good as the old 4870 ?

Dont want too much noise, oh please no jets taking off lol

had looked at this card on offer. .
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6570 Ultimate Edition 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express SILENT Graphics Card with FREE DIRT3 Game
THIS WEEK ONLY OFFER £59.99 inc VAT

But i presume its not going to be as good as my old card 4870.

Thanks Folks

5770 will give pretty much the exact same performance as your old 4870 if you didn't want something overly powerful.

A second hand 5850 would be nice though.

460 did sound ok, till i read it is really loud.
looked at after market coolers but that wont work with my budget.

anyone know what the 5770 is like regarding heat / noise

mine is pretty quiet, must admit i havent even noticed it.
i had 1, then 2 HD5770 last summer and they arent all that. i upgraded from a 9800GT and it was better, but nothing mind blowing. the GTX460 on the other hand, this is an upgrade/sidestep from my 2xHD6850 and in my experience, it wins hands down. no it doesnt have the raw power and max FPS, but it has more consistant/average FPS and is a lot quieter.

I no longer have the 4870, I had a cooler on it with a apache fan :D.

But cant push my budget for a card and a cooler.
Also would prefer to buy new, as some ppl have no idea how to look after things

Thanks for everyones input ;)

Ok lets say I pushed my budget (just toying with the idea)

the 460 above £110, hope its not too noisy  if so add a cooler later ?
or
MSI GeForce GTX 460 HAWK "Super-OC £130. i presume this wont be noisy ?

or going to £130 would you then advise of another card

i have the sparkle 2GB model and its not noisey at all, but if your budget is going up to the £130 mark, and you are looking at 1GB GTX460 cards, then you can grab a 1GB GTX560 for similar money.
