Does anyone have any experience with how the fake leather in all these gaming chairs is going to hold up over time? Desperately trying to find something the Mrs can get me for Xmas. DX Racer seems to be out of stock all over the world (must be nice for them!) so was looking at either a AK Gaming or AK Nitro.

From what I can tell, aside from cosmetics the only difference is fabric or PU (fake bonded) leather. I actually really like the look of both so that's not a problem.

I have had a fake leather chair from our favourite 'Click & Collect' high street store in the past and had to throw it away after 6 months because the covering had cracked and peeled. It was a complete waste of money. I would like to think at the prices we are looking at these will last longer, but any idea how long before it starts to crack and peel?

Every instinct tells me to go for the fabric, but I have long hair and I am concerned that damp hair (from the shower) might stain / mark the fabric? Conversely, my office chair is fabric and cost me 300 notes and is meant to be a really good one, not only have I never been comfortable in it, but the fabric has bobbled from a pair of jeans I used to have that had a button on the rear pocket.

Actually, scrub that. Lunchtime I checked my existing chair and the wear from my jeans pockets in the fabric basically would be enough to make PU "Leather" not last 5 minutes, so fabric it is then. It limits the choices somewhat since the world seems to be a bit obsessed with stocking fake leather but never mind!

I would delete this thread but I don't see an option to :)

Friend of mine has had an AK Racing Premium V2 Gaming Chair (in ghastly orange) since March.
He comes in directly from work (as a mechanic), covered in oil and grime and grit and road crap and engine fluids and whatever else... and he sits down to surf/game. He often folds one foot up under himself, meaning his grubby steel-cap boot is rubbing harshly on the PU.

Just last night I was round his place and that chair looks as good as new.

Thanks - nice to know for the future.

Bit of a moot point though, in between me looking this morning and having another nose just now the PU ones have gone up in price by £35 so I've ordered the fabric one :D

I know that my DX Racer has been being used for hours each day, maybe average 5 hours each day some days it is in use all the time more than 8 hours while video editing and gaming and i have had no problems. its extremely comfortable and the only way to see it has been used a lot is some creases in the leather, but it still looks fine, this is to be expected as the leather gets warn a bit, but its very high quality and i expect it to last more than my other chair i had.

I know i'm talking about the one that's out of stock but they are all around the same standards i just go the DX instead of AK because i wanted to metal base tbh.
