Hi everyone, I got a Asus ROG Rampage VI Apex (Socket 2066) Intel X299 E-ATX (MB-6A5-AS) motherboard

a Asus ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB OC Graphics Card

I currently have intel Core i7-7800X 3.5GHz (Skylake X / Basin Falls) cpu

I want to upgrade my CPU and have a budget of £600 I will be playing games like Xplane 11 in VR so need something really good what do you recommend please as my current cpu is letting the team down

I'm not sure what would be the next CPU step up for you on that socket, Have you considered RYZEN 3000 series? New CPU/Motherboard for your price

The Intel i9-10900X should be on sale very soon at your price point and should give you a 40% (approx) single-core boost, but have you tried overclocking?

I found it on sale somewhere for 490£ but now thinking of getting i9900k with new motherboard and ram not sure what ram or motherboard to get though if you got any suggestions would appreciate it

Cant find that in stock anywhere and when I phone up i just get told they are not sure when it is coming
It's not released yet and will have a new chipset and motherboard. All not fully announced.

The reason the 9900k (mentioned in your other thread) performs better than 9980XE etc, is that the HEDT chips for X299 have higher core counts. Power consumption causes this to limit maximum overclock.

Simply put, the 9900K can achieve higher core clocks and this is what games like. 6 cores is plenty for gaming. The HEDT chips are for more threaded workloads like video rendering, multiple tasks like streaming, etc.
