Thinking of purchasing a gaming desk this Christmas for myself. Haven't bought a desk in the last 20 years so wouldn't even know whats good these days. I can see OCUK sell a few but seems abit pricey? Is that what is expected now for a computer orientated desk?

Any recommendations are highly welcomed. L shaped desks are also considered.

Merry Christmas everyone!

It's not meant to be a criticism, but it doesn't sound like you know what you want. What makes something "gaming" is really just an amalgamation of features that appeal to gamers.

I'd think more about what you need. Get a rough ball park of the following requirements:

Size
Aesthetic
Surface type
Leg type/layout
Adjustable mechanism required/type, electric? etc
Price:quality ratio

By doing this, you will at least be able to rule out what you don't want, and go from there.
I think you're right, i honestly don't know what i really want... at the moment i have an Ikea corner desk that curves but having to place my rig on the top shelf (as i refuse to place it on the floor) and with the weight of it now im finding it abit sketchy and afraid its gonna fall down on me..

I'm looking for something either your normal rectangular shaped or L shaped to sit in the corner of the study room. Size wise i don't have exact numbers but it must fit upto 2-3 monitors side by side, not fussed about shelves above or not.
Aesthetically i want a black desk, my current one is white so a change is needed!
Leg type, something that's not going to damage my expensive carpet and not on wheels as it won't be moved once its in place anyway.
Adjustability is not preferred but is considered if there is an option.
Price upto £200

Quite a few people, myself included, have gone for a pair of Ikea Alex drawers as the "feet", with a simple worktop / counter top acress the two, I've posted my setup in the desk and room gallery in the cases bit, as have a lot of others, have a rummage through there for ideas!
Thanks mate, gonna go have a look now. Just been browsing through the Ikea pages to see what could work for me.

I had this same issue a few months back desks are a pain, I ended up buying a made to measure one and paying more than i wanted (£600) for what is esentially a basic desk.

 pics of the said desk? Gotta be something for £600 surely?!

Just found your post, it's a nice desk! Will do what i want it to do but then i spotted the Linnmon/Alex version with the end drawers... Quite tempting to get that instead though its a fair whack more in price.

You would think so but its not really apart from being deeper and longer (just shy of 2 meters) it's just a basic desk. For an extra 200 i can turn it into a corner one which I may do later.

That's actually a really nice looking desk, the finish on that looks top. Best thing about your setup has to be that fallout montage though haha brilliant!

I mean it is a nice desk but desks just seem silly expensive for what you get. Love that fallout artwork even if I have sort of fallen out of love with their games post new vegas.

I know what you mean, i would never pay that much for a desk it just seems silly to me but for custom work like yours i could see why it would be more expensive as its to your exact specifications.

Where did you get the artwork btw? Would love a set for my man cave :p

So as a temp i ended up buying a Micke storage unit (£50) that was the same height as my Micke corner Work station so i could lay my pc across the top. Had to dismantle my Micke workstation somewhat to get it to fit but it works for now... Went to ikea in hopes of getting the Limnon desk with some Alex storage units however the wife didn't like it (typical).

So for now i may end up buying another Micke desk (because its the same height as my main workstation) to go on the end of my station so i can put her rig there as well. Really wish i went for the black/brown combo, sick of the white colour... its so bland.

@b00merang69 those cable management trunking look decent, i may give it a try. I got abit of a cable hazard on my desk at the moment :p

I'm 6 foot tall and a Micke desk was too small for me. Its not tall or deep enough for me to sit at comfortably unless I place it 1 or 2 feet away from the wall. Then I found out it's intended to be a kids desk...
I do find its a little too low for me but im not the tallest of people and neither is my wife so we find it okay for what it is. Really do wish i had gone for a straight desk instead of this corner one...
