Gaming / Desktop Replacement Laptop

The only UK site I have actually seen this lappy advertised on is Play but that have it @£1900

Thus making the Kobalt G870 equal or even better on price for a very similar spec.

To be honest i was going to order the G870 myself but I am going to wait for the Asus. They recon the 5870 is about 20 - 30 % quicker than a gtx 280.
In the states you can get it for as little as $1,400 but I have seen it on preorder from asuslaptops for £1,713.15. It looks like it will be quieter than the G870, it also comes with a Razon mouse and Targus bag.
I agree that the G870 is still a kick ass sytem.
Just letting you know what im doing,

Totally agree the Asus is a very nice system and very powerful. Although 20 to 30% increase over the GTX285 is a little optimistic at the moment.
The ATI does very well in benchmarks but actual game performance is much closer. Having said that there are some beta catalyst drivers leaked at the moment and they appear to have give a decent improvement to some of the ATI's game scores. Its definately going to be an interesting few months in the laptop world.
 
I have been told that it should be available in about 14 days. I hope so as I cant wait to buy one since iv just sold my Rock.
 
Lucky beggars to whoever gets one. What is It about spending loads on something you can't upgrade or service easily that is so appealing lol?

I know what you mean lol. I had too sell my desk top when our second baby took over my office/gaming pit. I went for a Rock and luckily my brother has bought it off me, which means cheap upgrade. The Rock was a great beast though. Handy being able to play cod when spending time in hotels with work.
Just think of the desktop I could build for £1,700. Oh well the kids are worth it;)

Yes, they were taken over by Stone computers. I had an over heating issue when I first got it over a year ago and they repaired it within a week. Its been perfect since then. I cant recommend them enough really, I just really like the look of that new Asus.
I will put up some pics when it finally reaches the UK. I phoned 3 different companies today and 2 said they had no idea when it will be in stock and the other said May. I am willing to wait but its going to be hard considering im now using my works Dell. No gaming for a while

Will do but I am not expecting the unit to arrive for about 3 weeks.
They gave me an ETA of 2 1/2 weeks so I will air on the longer side so as not to be dissapointed if its slightly later
