Gaming/Developing/Encoding rig for ~ £900

So what's the current hive-mind consensus/recommendation for a gaming/development/encoding rig for around £900? (able to push a little beyond that if needed.) Needs to include everything (case, screen, keyboard, mouse, optical, psu etc.)

It's a spec for a friend, and yes, overclocking potential is welcome as some medium overclocking may happen if I can convince him. Budget can probably stretch to a grand, if that helps.
