Hey everyone,

I'll be building my first computer in 2 weeks and my budget is around £1200 maybe can stretch it by another £100. I have no experience in buying hardware but I do know how to build computers and there are far too many choices out there!

I'll be using it mainly for gaming and would really like to see what the fuss is about pc gaming in the first place :D. As a side use I'm a digital forensic student, so I'll also be using it to image and analysing entire hard drives, cryptography and steganography in some cases.

In the budget I will need:
All components - CPU, GPU, molex cables etc.
Keyboard + mouse
OS
Monitor

If i can't do both, then preferential treatment to gaming please!!

Thanks very much!!

Wow, someone is a big Corsair fan.
I'm struggling to see the need for such a high spec power supply. From what I can see of the other spec even a SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 650W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black would be overkill yet that is £40 cheaper. The rest of the spec is pretty much spot on.

As for i7, I very much doubt you'll need the hyperthreading, so no, I don't think it would make much difference.

Say's the fomer MSI rep ;) I was going to that superflower psu but then realised that the cables coming out out the psu would be on show in the window so he could get the cable kit at .later date :)

I just remembered my university has dreamspark so i can get windows 8.1 for free, i have a terrible memory! Would an extra £75 improve any of the builds so far? Hopefully i won't need to upgrade for quite a few years :D
