keyboard on me, along with cat, and mouse mat on a A4 sized bit of 1/4" mdf - either on arm, or preferably on lap (depending on cat) with elbow resting on sofa arm - very much a perfect position!
Just getan xbox 360 controller and plug that in (they are usb), it will be great for most games and its natively supported by Vista and you can find XP drivers with a bit of googling
