My 6 year old system has just died after Microsoft forced the Win10 upgrade on me (not directly related, but in the same week - sigh).

Processor: Intel i7-920 2.66GHz
Motherboard: Biostar T-Power X58
Memory: 6GB OCZ Reaper DDR3 1866MHz
Graphics: EVGA GeForce GTX 980Ti FTW
Case: Anatek 'Three Hundred' mid tower
PSU: OCZ Silencer 750w
System Drive: Crucial M225 256GB SSD
Other Drives: Western Digital 500GB & 1TB
Dell U2713HM at 2650x1440
HP LP2465 at 1900x1200

It is mainly used for Gaming and 3D CAD/CAM work.

I am not looking to change the graphics, but was originally hoping to wait for Intel's 2016 updates before jumping. Looks like I can no longer wait.

I do not want to go full-custom water cooling, but would like a quiet system.

I have around £2k to throw at the problem, what should I be considering folks?

PSU and case first.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £266.14
(includes shipping: £13.20)

That might bring it back to life.

Then CPU+board+RAM etc.

Total: £630.94
