Hi all,

another boring 'spec me...' thread, but here goes.
Just need the mobo/cpu/ram/gpu combo for £600

Was thinking of THIS intel overclocked gaming bundle

But what GPU to accompany it.

This is for a friend btw, i have what's in my sig and am happy with the 7950 3gb. However which 'R' series card would be good enough to match it?

He's wanting to get things ordered today if possible, so any quick advice would be appreciated, thanks :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS Radeon R9 280X iPower IceQ X2 Boost 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with BattleField 4 PC Game Included £245.99

1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G2400HC11CDC01) £55.99
Total : £592.56 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Buying it all indiviually saves money, the motherboard comes with a FREE cooler (which is pretty decent).

The 280X (sad to say) out performs your 7950.. its more akin to a 7970ghz.. :)

Thanks bud.
It seems that the 280X uses about 25% more power than the 7950, which slightly concerns me as the rig will be run by a powercool 700w. Not a bad psu, but wonder if it will cut the mustard for supplying quality and consistent voltage.
Still, there's no more in the budget, so hey ho.

I would look at replacing it..

Its not the amount of power its the 12v ampage you have a problem with..

For the card itself it requires a PSU with atleast 21A on the 12V rail, then it needs more for the rest of the system, so around 30-40A is reccomended, more if you can..

Where as the powercool only has 24amps on the 12v.. It should be okay for now but i would look at replacing it.
