As above, did have Razer Megalodon, but kept cutting out (USB power issues)

Must be 7.1,

currently looking at

Corsair Vengeance 1500 Dolby 7.1 Gaming Headset

Razer Kraken 7.1 Surround Sound USB Black Gaming Headset

Asus Vulcan PRO Active Noise Cancelling

Any recommendations, not bothered about the mic part, just want awesome sound really.

regards

sean

Hey,

The headsets I'd suggest from your current list I'd add the Logitech G35's to the list, Logitech have recently brought their G35's from the ashes and we list them here at OcUK

The sound quality and bass is just right for gaming and both music, Vulcans have had a balance of bad reviews and good reviews, with Razer I feel even though they are premium quality headphones the cost in some cases are too steep, and the Corsair Vengeance headsets, aren't the best but the quality is satisfactory but the bass isn't really balanced for both FPS games and Music.

The Logitech G35's have sound comparable to the Sennheiser PC350's I've had both these headphones and the quality is great, the noise cancelling is excellent which can really help in immersion.

ok, thanks, will take a look:), I was fairly impressed with the Razer ones but very disappointed with the cutting out, which actually appears to be a common issue with a lot of them due to USB power issues.

looking at the above, bearing in mind I have a pretty good sound card (soundblaster Titanium XFI), would I be better off going for USB or standard 3.5mm jack??

I can fully recommend the Asus Vulcan, a great headset (and the mic is detachable). Closed cup (great noise cancelling), great directional sound, good bass, very comfortable, cool colours, long hard wearing cable. Not sure if it's 7.1 though.

I would always choose a 3.5mm jack over USB even if using the oldest form of Soundblaster (doesn't even need to be a good one!).

I have the Corsair Vengeance 1500 and love the sound quality, it can start feeling heavy after prolonged gaming / movie watching sessions though.
In hindsight I would have gone for something a little lighter... still a quality headset though, but it is USB and if you're on Windows 8 they don't have their drivers out yet even though it is recognised as corsair 1500's there are much less options than on the Corsair win 7 drivers.
