Hi

I want a headset for my macpro and macbook pro like this one:

Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 Gaming USB Headset

I know I need a USB or Bluetooth headset and it must have a built in microphone which is of a good quality as I use it online for OU courses and other language course. I had the standard windows Creative Fatal1ty with a pink and green plug on the end and this will not work on the Mac. I have only just converted to Mac so it will only be at the start of the term that I will need my headset back.

The USB headset I'm listing above does NOT say it is compatible with the Mac and it seems that only the top of the range Creative are declared as compatible.

Just wanted to know if the HS-1000 is used by any of you on a Mac or if not what you do use for this type of work. The microphone is important as for gaming I fly in real time on Flight Simulator so talk to other air traffic controllers and aircraft and then use it for language courses and other communications.

Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received!

Thanks

From Apple - Mac Pro:
Connections and audio:
* Four FireWire 800 ports (two on front panel, two on back panel)
* Five USB 2.0 ports (two on front panel, three on back panel)
* Two USB 2.0 ports on included keyboard
* Front-panel headphone mini-jack and internal speaker
* Optical digital audio input and output TOSLINK ports
* Analog stereo line-level input and output mini-jacks
* Multi-channel audio through Mini DisplayPort
I thought all 3.5MM audio TRS connectors were largely compatible?

Unless you have a 13" MBP why buy another headset?

Hi

Thanks fir the reply, there are no microphone jacks on the macpro or on the macbook pro. The one on the front is output only and the two on the rear, the input one has to have a powered line in, which means the signal has to be amplified to about 1v. So the only choice I have is for a USB headset containing both speakers and microphone which uses the USB to do the necessary.

I have connected my microphone point on my Creative Fatal1ty and it will not work.

Anymore ideas, please?

Thanks

Hi all

Just a footnote to the above, if you notice none of the headsets that use 3.5mm input say they are OSX compatible, only USB headsets seem to say this and then only in certain cases.

Cheers
