Hello,

Last time I bought the likes of gaming headsets was when I played all my games on PC, I am moving all my console gaming stuff upstairs in the new year and late at night I don't think my girlfriend will appreciate the sounds of gunfire, grenades and fireballs etc when she is trying to sleep so I am thinking about investing in a good console headset. Can any of you recommend any good headsets? The most I am willing to pay is £150. I do most of my gaming these days on 360 but I have swings where I'll switch to PS3 and start neglecting the 360 a little bit more so a cross platform headset would be great.

I also game in component, reason for that is my game capture device (it operates like a pass through) only accepts component connections. Is that going to be a problem? I had heard a lot of these headsets use component connections. The setup is like:

360/PS3 ---> 360/PS3 component cable ---> Gamecap ---> Gamecap component cable ---> TV.

I have heard amazing things about the Tritton Detonator, very reasonably priced too. As I do most of my gaming on 360 I'm considering it but would just prefer a cross platform headset if possible. If any of you have ideas I'd really appreciate it, cheers.

I would love to get my hands on the Astro A40s but they're a little out of my price range unfortunately, the A30s look a bit flimsy and some reviews online from people who have them confirm that.

Managed to pick up a mixamp and some ATH-A700s for around £140 off of ebay. Great little 5.1 setup. Phones not great for music as they lack bass but for gaming they are sublime.
