Hi all
Recently got a build specced up and placed the order but the graphics card is taking ages to come into stock. If it doesn't arrive soon I am going to change some components around so I can get my new PC sooner. Now, OCUK are going to build it for me (I am long past the point of wanting to do it myself, 20 odd years of working in IT it is the last thing I want to do haha) so I want to get it right the first time and not have to crack it open and swap out fans or fiddle with components after wards, so help me get it right the first time
So the PC will sit in the lounge under the telly. It will perform HTPC tasks and be a gaming rig. With this in mind it needs to be as quiet as possible. I understand that it wont be silent but I just need to try and get it as quiet as possible.
So, the original spec:
1 x Raijintek Metis - Black Mini ITX Case (CA-010-RT) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-010-RT
1 x Raijintek Themis Black Heatpipe CPU Cooler PWM - 120mm (HS-015-RT) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-015-RT
1 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 "Mini-ITX" 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GV-N970IXOC-4GD) (GX-153-GI) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-153-GI
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black (CA-003-SF) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-003-SF
1 x MSI Z97I Gaming AC - Devil's Canyon i5 4690K CPU & Mini ITX Motherboard Bundle **£18 Saving** (BU-007-MS) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-007-MS
1 x Avexir Gold Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17200C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U21331104G-2CEY) - Yellow/Gold Light (MY-046-AR) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-046-AR
1 x Crucial MX100 128GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter (CT128MX100SSD1) (HD-035-CR) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-035-CR
1 x Crucial MX100 512GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter CT512MX100SSD1) (HD-037-CR) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-037-CR
1 x Western Digital Caviar Green 6TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD60EZRX) (HD-455-WD) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-455-WD
Now since the graphics card is a problem I will have to look at a new case to fit a full size graphics card into it. After doing a bunch of reading I quite like the look of the following replacements:
1 x Corsair Obsidian Series 250D Mini ITX Compact Gaming Case - Black (CC-9011047-WW) (CA-169-CS) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-169-CS
1 x Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CW-9060009-WW) (HS-015-CS) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-015-CS
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GX-259-MS) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-259-MS
Would that be a good choice? Any problems to look out for with those components? Would you replace the fans (on either the case or the cooler) at all?
Thanks for your help in advance
