Gaming in Windowed Mode

SLI doesn't work in window mode

(Unless the lastest nvidia drivers now support SLI in window mode ..As i no checked for this for years :p )

Works fine for me. :)

Just ran TF2 up in borderless windowed with the Sli indicator turned on. It was going nuts and both cards were warming up. :p Can't say I've noticed it not working in any other games I run windowed.

Interesting views and comments.
I am going to stay with windowed for a while, I’ve stretched the screen out so I only have the task bar at the bottom and root bar (or whatever its called) at the top, no sides. Looks ok and it’s a lot better than Alt-Tab'ing in and out all the time.
Must admit I don’t notice the difference after a while.
Done a small fps check and I don't see much if any difference, still its worth a couple of frames for the convenience..

Thanks everyone who left comments..

Depends on the game, it's graphical settings or maybe how much you are running at the same time.

Few games might stutter or won't run as perfectly smooth than fullscreen. Funnily enough I find this the case with emulators. I tend to play fullscreen with them because it runs so much smoother.

But for the most part and if you have a good system, it shouldn't be too noticeable.

The game has to stream the frame buffer back to the main ram(?). If it's done well, then you have minimal drop in performance. Maybe some issues with more input lag (running one frame behind?), although I haven't noticed it myself. I'm not a graphics coder though :) It used to be costly back in the old days.

Frame skipping, Vsync, I dunno.

I just call it ****ing computers and the all sorts problems and randomness associated with it. :D

End of the day for me, it just depends on the game, and unless it becomes a stuttering monster for some reason, then it won't bother me too much.
