Gaming keyboards.... Any good..?

Wireless works fine for me, I use the keyboard from the S510 pack and an MX1100 mouse, better than my MX510 at least. No problems with the signal or anything.

£120 for a keyboard is ridiculously stupid. :o

I wait for everyone to call me an idiot.. lol

You're an idiot :p

I went for the discounted £125 768Mb 460GTX, seemed better 'bang per buck' than the 1Gb version.

Was playing Crysis Warhead on it last night, details maxed, CCC pack set to Ultra high, looked amazing and ran smooth as silk. :D

Metro 2033 lined up and ready to play, Bioshock still needs to be played and got a free copy of HAWX 2 so I'll be having a bash at that once its' released and I can download it.

nice..!! Don't understand how the ATI 5870 Vapor-X is actually more expensive now then when I got mine... I paid under £300 and yet OCUK have the card, out of stock mind, as over £300. Normally video cards plummet in price in the first 6 - 12 months.

Anyhow, metro 2033 will give you some great eye candy, not a bad game either.

Can I request pics ?

So far so good, feels nice to type on and has fixed the WSAD stuttering issues. Good news, might actually play some PC games now.

That looks like a fine piece of kit. Not "in yer face" like some of those Logitech monstrosities, no offence Logitech lovers :p. Will now be getting this for my Christmas present :) I'm also partial to a bit of glossy black.

Yeah its nice, and it isn't in your face at all. Its not too large and the gloss black is nice, even though it shows my finger prints... lol

Just had a quick go with COD MW and its miles better... £30 well spent from the looks of it... I'll post back once I've done some more testing, Mass Effect here I come..!!

Well the MS sidewinder X4 worked like a charm. Every single issue I was having with pausing when pressing any combination of WSAD or stuttering or having to repress W to move forward etc has gone.

I tried Mass Effect, COD MW and Bioshock 2, none of these games have native gamepad support, to which I’ve tried to get working using Pinnacle profiler with disastrous results, and I was able to run around and aim and shot so much more efficiently. I can honestly, hand on my heart see why you pro PC gamers defend your keyboard and mouse PC gaming rigs.

Finally, can play all these Steam games I got in the massive summer sales. Can’t believe I went crazy and got so many such as –

Mass Effect 1 & 2
Bioshock 1 & 2
Dragons Age Awakening
COD MW
COD WAW

Etc etc and then found out hardly any of them worked with a gamepad… lol oh well they were cheap, I blame Steam for selling games too cheaply.

Can highly recommend a MS sidewinder X4 keyboard BTW. Only complaint i've got is that its really easy for some reason to hit CAPS when pressing A.

I use a dell multimedia keyboard, usb. about 30 quid. great for games and typing, comfortable and looks really smart and minimal.

unless you really want macro features I don't see the point of gaming keyboards, I find them ugly and tacky, not to mention expensive.

For £80 it would have to be a mechanical keyboard for me. I recently got a Filco mechanical keyboard with cherry brown switches and it is so nice to type on it's ridiculous. It's pretty basic, doesn't have any macro keys or anything but it has solid build quality and the keys are amazing. I didn't think it would feel this nice to type on a keyboard. :p

They're pretty expensive but I imagine it's the only keyboard you'll ever need to buy since mechanical ones last so long.

This. Filco Mechanical keyboards are a pleasure to type on althought some of the switch types can be loud. I'd love to see a mechanical keybaord with macro keys like the G15.

I used one of these for a couple of years until it broke. Good keyboard, only gripe slightly squeaky keys, but that is/was my only gripe.

Picked up a Logitech classic (I think) as it was free. Nice key action, but very simple and large for what it is.

However, when playing CSS if you try to use more than 3 or 4 keys it does not respond, hence now I'm looking for a new KB.

Been keeping an eye on the thread an think I'm going to go for the x4 based on price/performance.

Would like one of these but can't justify it...
