"Gaming" keyboards worth it?

It's not really illegal advertising. 8 key rollover keyboards are actually only 6 key rollovers anyway. Due to the ctrl/alt modifiers making them 7/8 key rollover. I wonder how they get this "20 key rollover" when no-one else has been passing 8 keys for years. But I do see that they advertise 20 key rollover. Don't know why you would need 20 key rollover anyway.

Unless you desperately want some 'G' keys (and you should consider if these will actually be useful to you), you should just get a mechanical keyboard with the appropriate switches (Cherry red, black or whatever).

I have a logitech G19 gaming keyboard and i must admit it really a waste of money...

I can play games just as well on a £10 keyboard...

Thats because logitech G series keyboards are just normal keyboards with some fancy bits stuck on at a premium price. at least mechanical keyboards have a reason to be somewhat pricey.

I owned a logitech G11 which was a macro key based gaming keyboard and that was rubbish. Had numerous issues with it and ended up binning it for that £5 dell flat keyboard :S

Never had problem with G11-G's work perfect in most of titles and logitech updating list of games very often.

I used to use G keys very often in MMO games and those which have many commands, however since I own Razer Naga G keys is most of the time untouchable.

Owned many keyboards and never felt difference while gaming.

Microsoft did it with the Sidewinder X4. Then it all went quiet for a while. I assume if Corsair is now advertising 20+ key rollover, they have licensed the IP from Microsoft. Nobody needs 20 key rollover. Nobody needs NKRO either. But if 20+ is manageable over USB it gives the illusion of being NKRO as nobody has that many fingers, or fingers fast enough for it to be of a concern. There are exceptions where NKRO and 20+ key rollover are important of course such as instances were rolling your forehead across the keyboard is a valid means of expressing what you wish to rqheeaohfgao;gfavd;gadvf

Not sure if you are just trolling, especially given the fact you say the BlackWidow is a good keyboard, when the keyboard isn't optimised for gaming, meaning 2KRO blocks, in any case, you are giving out poor information.

How am I giving out poor information? I researched mechanical keyboards for months before buying the BSWU which I bought for the Cherry MX keys as well as the fact it actually looks like a normal keyboard and not some ugly thing sitting on my desk. Plus have you used a Blackwidow keyboard at all? if not no opinion and unless you can actually prove it has 2KRO blocks then don't say it does. Plus read up on 8KRO for any mechanical keyboard its actually 6/7 key due to MODIFIER KEYS.

And speaking of USB, that brings us to a very important point - the keyboard is NOT NKRO. And I don't mean not NKRO as in, because it's USB it can only to 6+4 keys. No. I mean, there are no diodes on the board, so key combos are blocked by the controller instead of by the USB protocol. So you will run into combinations that get blocked at only 2 keys, meaning this is just 2-key rollover. One such combination is Z+X+C, which screwed me up because I use those keys for both emulators and music games. Not that I couldn't find a new cluster of keys to use, but it's just something that I wouldn't want to have happen immediately after spending $130 on a keyboard.

They all work fine tah. want a screenshot as proof? pressing WASD+ZXC C doesn't work which is obvious as its 6+2 key rollover for BWUS which means WASD+ZX+ctrl+shift does work.
